Eyelashes for Days

I’ve done it all. Eye lashes extensions, tried every mascara under the sun and even used a serum to encourage growth. What is it with girls and their lashes?!

Only two things have worked for me; Ageless Lashes and Younique 3D mascara. Obviously, the extensions gave amazing results but they are far too pricey and ruined my real lashes. When they were removed all I had left were little stubs. Needless to say it was an extremely sad week for me. :(

After trying countless mascara brands I was very skeptical when I first heard about Younique, thinking it was more of the same. But it’s not. The combination of gel and fibers allows you to build your lashes up and up, pretty much as long you as you want them. But be warned that this can be extremely addictive and after using it, you will never be able to go back to just ho hum regular mascara.

For me, what worked best was using a very thin coat of your regular mascara (emphasis on the very thin coat) then use a coat of the Younique gel, then immediately after the green tea fibers, and gel again to seal it. I also like to use a brush without anything on it to keep the lashes separated in between coats. Repeat gel, fiber, gel until you achieve the desired lash length.

Cameron Diaz – The Body Book

I must confess, I am not actually reading this book. I am listening to the audiobook. I’m a multitasker at heart and sitting still to read a book is very hard for me. Even when I watch TV I like to bake or organize something. I started listening to it in the car on my way to and from work and while on the elliptical and I must say I am really enjoying it. Not just the book but also the act of being entertained while doing two things that I normally find boring.

I am a few chapters/hours in and I am really enjoying it. She talks about food and health in a different way than I’ve heard before. She breaks it down so it’s easy to understand and it just clicks. I have a “Duh” moment every time I listen. She gets down to the basics and actually explains things, for example what exactly gluten is. I probably talk to ten people a day that are on a gluten free diet and claim it’s the devil but I have never before heard what it is and what purpose it serves. She also talks about how being hungry is a good thing and should be embraced. It’s basically your body’s fuel light blinking indicating you are getting low. And I’ve always known that whole grains are so much better than white rice, white pasta or white bread but now I know why. And that helps making better choices so much easier!

It’s definitely worth a read or a listen! I guarantee you will learn something you didn’t know before. And it’s written in such a way that it’s as much entertaining as it is informative.

Oh and if you choose to buy the audio book over the hardcover, it comes with a PDF full of pictures, charts and diagrams to better help you understand what she's discussing.

My sister is going to put me in the poor house! Here is her latest beauty find - Josie Maran 100 percent Pure Argan Oil.

Argan Oil is rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids so it’s naturally great for your hair, skin and nails. You can use it at night as a moisturizer or a cuticle softener. I have been using it on my many split ends and it’s a god send! If I won the lottery, I would literally bath in this stuff!

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Here’s another beauty product my sister got me hooked on. Great timing as winter can really take its toll on your skin. This moisturizer not only works great, but it’s not expensive and it’s made with all natural products such as Honey, Beeswax, Olive Oil, Royal Jelly, Bee Pollen and Bee Propolis.

When you open the jar it looks very stiff almost like a lip balm, you’re supposed to scoop some of it out and rub in it your hands at which point it will almost turn into an oil, then apply it to your face, body etc and your skin will feel moisturized and hydrated immediately!

Living Proof

Jennifer Aniston is known for her gorgeous hair, so why wouldn’t you try out a product that she co-owns with her stylist? My sister started using it, and you know how sisters are, so naturally I had to try it too! Glad I did, because I love it! Now don’t get me wrong these products won’t make you magically have Jen’s hair. But they will definitely accentuate what you do have. So far I have used the Satin Hair Serum, and then I used my Sephora points for a travel sized Prime Style Extender.

You’re supposed to use both on clean, damp hair. I however, am rule breaker and only use the Serum on my wet hair. I use the Style Extender once my hair is dry on the front pieces that tend to misbehave the most. The Style Extender does exactly that, keeps your style looking the way you want it, longer. Whether it’s curly or straight, it’s going to sit still. And the Serum makes gives your hair a smooth stain finish. As an added bonus, this stuff smells wonderful!

The Clarisonic

Best. Investment. Ever.

This brush is a godsend! It cleans and exfoliates your skin better than any other at home treatment.
Nothing feels better than your skin after using little guy. I’ll wash my face thinking it’s clean, and then use my Clarisonic and it will take off even more makeup that I didn’t even know was there!

It’s similar to an electric toothbrush in the sense that it has a wall charger and the brushes can be replaced as needed. You can also buy different types of brushed that focus on different things IE deep pore cleansing. You can even use it to exfoliate your body, and yep, there’s a brush for that! ;)

Although it does a deep clean, it’s still easy on sensitive skin. In my eyes, there is nothing I would change about this brush. LOVE it!

The Secret to Long Lashes

Years ago I found out about eyelash extensions. I went nuts! I had to have them!
So I shelled out $400, and patiently laid on a table for 3 hours for my initial set. If you aren’t familiar with lash extensions, a technician will surgically glue one “fake” eyelash to every single one of your real lashes (hence the 3 hours) After that, you would go back every 2 – 4 weeks for a fill to replace any lashes they fell out. I was hooked! Even without makeup they make you look glamorous! I kept going back for longer and longer lashes each time. This lasted about 3 months before I got sick of going back every few weeks and ran out of money.

After I got them removed I think I cried for about a week straight. The extensions somewhat damaged my natural lashes and made them short and stubby. I went from one extreme to another. Lash extensions would be great as one time application for a special event like a holiday or a wedding. But trying to maintain them for an extended period of time was not a good decision, at least for me. They have come down a lot in price over the years, but just make sure if do decide to get a set that the technician is certified. After all, someone is using surgical glue around your eyes…

But don’t worry, all hope is not lost. Years after that I discovered “Ageless Lashes”. This a clear serum you put directly on your eyelashes twice a day and it will make your natural lashes grow! It honest to god it works! I noticed a huge difference in my lashes after using it for a few weeks. And the best part is if you stop using it, it doesn’t make your lashes shorter or fall out like other products on the market. Everyone I know who uses it, loves this product.
